Marks Hall Farmhouse is an elegant, Grade II listed, 15th
century moated farmhouse set deep in the peaceful Essex countryside and
providing a high level of luxury accommodation.
Formerly the family home of the proprietors of The Reid Rooms, the farmhouse
is just a few yards from the central courtyard of The Reid Rooms complex.
The attractively planted gardens provide an extremely popular backdrop
for wedding photographs.
Internally, the building has been renovated to a high standard, with every
attention given to creating a warm, inviting and traditional “country
house” atmosphere. Period furnishings combine with soft, neutral colours
and pine and wood accessories, to create accommodation that is elegant,
yet comfortable and homely.
There are eight bright and airy bedrooms, including a splendid
bridal suite. All have attractive views over the moat and gardens, where
there is a tennis court available for guests’ use. All bedrooms are
either ensuite or have a hand basin. The Marks Hall Farmhouse can sleep
up to twenty guests for weddings at The Reid Rooms.
Particularly noteworthy features include the Dining Room, with its huge
inglenook fireplace; a large, comfortable Lounge with open fireplace
and cosy sofas; and a spacious farmhouse Kitchen with tea and coffee making
facilities. A full English breakfast is served to guests in the Dining
Room.
